Thanksgiving Table Talk

Thanksgiving is usually a holiday that we spend staying on the ranch. We always say, the animals don’t take holidays, so we do our morning chores and make the rounds to feed them before we start preparing our big dinner.

I have a bunch of shibori-dyed cloths and I like to spread one out down the center of the table for special dinners. I send the kids to gather some flowers, greens, and small branches to put in a pretty pitcher, and finish off the table with some candles.

We really don’t overthink it… I believe it’s so important to relax and enjoy celebrations. It’s about the people so much more than making sure things look prim and proper.

Whether you’re with a big group of people, or just a few close friends and family this year… I hope that you find some time to connect with those around you. I gathered up some fun prompts to kick off a ‘Thanksgiving Table Talk’ discussion with your crew this year :)

  • If you could only eat one Thanksgiving food for the rest of your life, what would it be?

  • Which person at this table would make the best news anchor?

  • What is your favorite Thanksgiving memory from when you were a kid?

  • If you wrote a book, what would be the title?

  • You’re going to sail around the world… what is the name of your boat?

  • If you could be transported to the past or to the future, which would you pick and why?

  • If you could pick a new skill in an instant, what would it be?

  • If your life was a TV show, what would be the theme song?

  • If you could invite three famous people to Thanksgiving dinner, who would you choose?

  • If you could adopt a trait from another person at this table, what would it be?
