Tehama Angus Bull Sale
We were honored to be asked to be the speakers at the Pre-Sale Dinner last night.
As new ranchers, to be speaking to people who have been doing this for generations, many of whom have guided us immensely, was something we never expected. Many of these Red Bluff ranchers knew and worked with Brian’s Dad in agriculture and I know he was looking down on us and really proud.
It was, as Brian said, a “highlight reel” moment for us.
It was a great day at the Bull Sale! We walked the corrals and looked at every bull Brian had flagged in the catalogue as ones we liked based on their EPDs (statistics on ‘expected progeny differences’), birthdate and lineage. We narrowed our list down further and were ready for the auction.
The Borror family of Tehama Angus has been raising bulls for 75 years and they are really strong, impressive bulls with fantastic genetics.
Watch my story to see what the first bull of the sale went for!! We didn’t get the first of our top five picks, but then bid and won the next three of four. Two of them were my favorites from looking at them in the corrals and Brian is really happy with the genetics we will add to our herd with these three beautiful bulls. Their genetics mean great quality meat in our meat program and continuing strong maternal genetics in the heifer calves we keep as replacements.
And we all got new @tehamaranch hats so the girls are pretty happy too!
