The TODAY SHOW Experience!
Five Marys featured on the TODAY show!
An NBC special segment featuring Mary Heffernan of Five Marys Farms along with other female farmers, surgeons and soldiers in celebration of International Women’s Day. Mary 6, 2020 LIVE from the plaza in NYC with footage from Fort Jones California.
I had a blast in NYC with my sister and Mom! We got our hair done together at the Mia Wagner Salon, had lunch with my literary agent Leslie Stoker who I hadn’t met in person, met up withmy Aunt Mimi and her faily who happened to be visiting the same weekend and was forced to show with my sister.
My mom lived here in 1972-1973 when she was a flight attendant for American Airlines and she knows her way around this city - keeping us on our toes and it was so much fun to hear her stories of life in the big city then.
We had an early dinner and bedtime the first night in anticipation of an early call time the next morning!
What an incredible experience!!! Starting at 4:45 for a 5 o’clock call time (That’s 2 AM California Time) at Rockefeller Center. The segment was about female farmers, surgeons, and soldiers in celebrations of International Women’s day and the TODAY show did an incredible job putting it all together!
One of the highlights of this trip was meeting Al Roker in person! He’s such a great guy and has been a loyal customer and supporter of Five Marys, meeting him in real life was so much fun!
I was nervous before the show but he came right over to talk to all of us and made us all feel right at home. He’s been a staple on the today show for over 40 years and everyone on the Plaza was cheering for him and calling his name for photos. He mad the round to make everyone there feel special, including all of my family in the crowd.
The Today show brought a John Deer to the plaza! All of the other farmers were so great and it was so fun to tape with them. This is us before the segment started playing.
I couldn’t believe it seeing it on the big screen in the plaza! They brought us all up on stage together through a plaza full of fans, lights, and smoke that made us all feel like royalty.
We had a really neat feature showing the girls, Brian, and me at Five Marys before they introduced the farmer group.
What a trip! An experience I’ll never forget, made my day even better by having my mom and sister and entourage of family there for all of the fun too. My mom is the best supporter (and always has been!) and knows just how to make a trip like this extra memorable and special.
We packed as much as we possible could into three days in New York city with great meals, lots of walking, fancy cocktails, an interview at parents magazine and all the once-in-a-lifetime fun around the Today Show segment.
Thanks for sharing in the excitement of this experience, it was so much fun to read you comments and get the texts and shares. I can’t wait to get home and hear first-hand what the girls thought of seeing themselves on the big screen. I’m headed home to get back to ranch life and the feed truck seat right next to Brian.
